The ultimate trust in an organization or company is when the right work relationship exists between employee and manager. To have total trust in the boss, a person must know the boss well enough to know that he or she cares. Employees care if they know the boss cares. Automatically, this style of managing openly states that the manager does not trust his or her people to do their work right or work as hard as they should. I suggest that this is one of those good manager qualities that does not need to be absent in any leader’s practices.


So, is there a better way to get the best from your people without having to watch them while they work? The answer is yes. One of the best ways for those managers with good manager qualities is to create written work standard practices and procedures. When those mangers with the right manager qualities can create good standard work practices and they are followed, they eliminate any need to have to watch people to see if they are doing their best. When employees follow proven guidelines and methods, especially when they participated in the development of them, there is no need to have to watch people’s work. The documents will do it for you. Managers that practice those good manager qualities that know how to properly develop and use this system will spend a lot more time focusing on real improvements.
